Avans University of Applied Sciences has been named the best major university of applied sciences in the Netherlands by the leading Dutch magazine Elsevier and the best multi-stream University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands for the 3rd year in a row by the Higher Professional Education Options Guide 2013.
In the Netherlands' National Student Sruvey, an assessment of study programmes at institutes of higher professional education completed by almost 80,000 students, Avans University of Applied Sciences had the most study programmes boasting above-average satisfaction. This puts Avans head and shoulders above the other universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands.
Avans University of Applied Sciences offers professional higher education degree programmes in three main centres in the southern part of the Netherlands. Across 19 schools, there are currently some 40 courses, 1,800 staff and 21,000 students.

Degrees awarded from Avans are fully recognized by the Dutch Ministry of Education (and its foreign equivalents), and are comparable to the UK four-year BA honours degree, a USA Bachelor’s degree, the Diplom-Betriebswirt in Germany or the Maitrise in France. Avans is also NVAO accredited (NVAO is the official accreditation authority of the Netherlands and Belgium).
The degree programmes offered by Avans University of Applied Sciences rank very high in the annually published listings. Among the Dutch Universities of Applied Sciences, Avans belongs to the top institutes. Avans University of Applied Sciences offers a scholarship programme for the best performing non-EEA students. Scholarships are available each year to approximately 80 top-ranking, eligible students for all Avans programmes.
In order to qualify for Avans Scholarship Programme, students are required to have paid their tuition fee as well as having obtained 60 ECTS during the academic year. The scholarships are automatically awarded to the eligible, top-ranking students at the end of each academic year, so there is no need to apply for the Avans Scholarship Programme. Students may recieve a maximum of two scholarships during their entire study programme and the amount is around 3,000 Euro per year.
