
The Association for International Arbitration is a non-profit organization located in Brussels, whose members consist of arbitrators and mediators of international and local backgrounds throughout the globe.
With over 40,000 contacts worldwide, including over 400 experts with extensive experience in the field of resolving business disputes, AIA strive to help investors obtain solutions to their problems, in order to protect future business relationships. The organisation was originally born out of a wish to create and develop a truly global network of professionals in the field of arbitration, be they arbitrators, legal practitioners, academics, scholars or students. The objective was, and still remains, to promote the use of arbitration and other efficient and appropriate means of ADR at both an international and more localised level.
At present, the AIA provides information, training and educational activities to expand the promotion of arbitration and ADR globally by means of securing partnerships with various organizations parties to get involved in the life of the association. Endeavouring to bring together all enthusiastic and like minded professionals who are keen to work towards finding ways and means of promoting mutual co-operation and understanding. AIA also strive to create an interest both in ADR and more specifically in arbitration amongst law students worldwide. This is achieved by providing the students with a forum where they can access the latest legal research seek advice and guidance from lecturers and professors from all across the globe and publish their own original research.
The Association for International Arbitration continuously work towards creating international partnerships, to provide the international community of arbitrators and ADR professionals with continuous exposure to the latest international developments, activities and opportunities in the field. AIA strongly encourages the participation and contribution of its members in the pursuit of the association’s goals as well as scholarship and publication, and a forum for legal discourse. The association organises training and educational activities to foster further learning and professional accuracy.
The Association for International Arbitration can help with the introduction of arbitrators and mediators; but it is to be noted that AIA is not an arbitration institute and does not appoint arbitrators.
